The problem is my current P5B-Deluxe is very, very buggy and I thought it may be up to the BIOS ...
Currently, there is 1101 installed

Today - tried downgrading it to 1004 with worked fine for me before, but get this error

As it says - downloaded the latest software from ASUS site, but yet still such error :mad:

Any ideas?

BTW - tried "clear CMOS" (removing battery and other tricks) - no help

my friend tried flashing it from floppy - it just frozen every time he tried to re-flash it

Try to find EPROM Programmer, just take out your bios chip, put them on EPROM Programmer and flash new(any) bios.

then use this command

awdflash xxxxx.bin /py /sn /cd /cc /cp /ld /r /f

afudos ixxxx.rom /pbnc /n

lol, strange things happenned ... yesterday was trying to bench the E6600 with DI - accidentally clicked on the "ASUS_update" logo and it did no error ... running 1004 now and still having errors ... RMA it must be :(

(lol, I must have set a WR for the highest freq to flash BIOS at - was flashing at 4.7GHz) :D

trying to downgrade from 1216crap back to 1004. Reasons:
1.extremely instable RAM clocking (can't hit 500MHz, 4-4-4, 2.15V with mem that should do that no prob)
2.CPU FSBwall drop from 570 to <500MHz... had some mchbar tweaks with 1004, with 1216 it's completely different
3.My new OPB RAM doesn't want to boot with this mobo/BIOS ... may be it's BIOS related ... may be RAM is dead ... who knows

Tried:
1.ASUS Update -> no downgrade possible
2.EZ Flash -> no downgrade possible
3.awdflash -> unknown error
4.afudos -> "BIOS image is too old" error message
5.uniflash -> no options with "FLASH ___" avaliable (http://server4.pictiger.com/img/1282199/picture-hosting/dsc-07433.jpg) since it's ASUS
6.hitting NB heatsink with a fist -> no help ... damn, need a new NB heatsink for it to look pretty :(
7.downgrading BIOSes one by one -> no go ... it doesn't want to flash 1215 either

any more suggestions?

problem solved ... "accidentally" ;) killed the MB, to get a RMA mobo with older version of BIOS (I reckon with 0804 or sth) ... :D

that's how you downgrade an ASUS bios :p
