another team called 'Hun EXtreme OC Team'. basically they are quite new on the subzero ocing field. have 3 members, are about 1 year ago together, already tested few times with ln2, the most on dice. they are not registered on hwbot or any international sites.

here is the review of the biggest hungarian hw site about the QC event (translated link): Past the first round of the GO OC 2009 (http://translate.google.com/translate?prev=hp&hl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fprohardver.hu%2Fhir%2Flezajlott_a_g o_oc_2009_elso_forduloja.html&sl=hu&tl=en)

guys, there is something what i want to tell you about our regional competiton in hungary. after ive seen the official homepage and ive seen the country attendances filled i cannot keep the truth in private anymore...

it was a big failure in the GOOC 2009 hungarian qualifications scoring method what is not public yet because it would change the placing and the winners. the organiser - gigabyte hungarian office - asked us to keep this topic in private until we are looking for a solution - that was their promise a week ago, and now we have to see this at the official homepage of the event:

http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/4409/goochungary.th.jpg (http://img256.imageshack.us/my.php?image=goochungary.jpg)

you can see the pattern messages about the past oc acheivments and so on. you can look after in hwbot (http://www.hwbot.org/rankings/overclocker/country/hungary), with my deepest respect to the other team at this time we had a friendly relationship and helped them a lot but they didnt own any hungarian benchmark records and not talking about any WRs. this is just a lie.

but lets see the start of the story...

here is the review of the gooc 2009 hungarian live event with pics and results: @ prohardver.hu (http://translate.google.com/translate?prev=hp&hl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fprohardver.hu%2Fhir%2Flezajlott_a_g o_oc_2009_elso_forduloja.html&sl=hu&tl=en) or @ gamestar.hu (http://translate.google.com/translate?prev=hp&hl=hu&u=http%3A%2F%2Fgamestar.hu%2Fgigabyte-go-oc-2009-tuningrendezveny.html&sl=hu&tl=en)

and my previous post here in this topic about it: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showpost.php?p=3686690&postcount=169

at the event the scores of the two teams was calculated like this way:

SuperPi 8MB
1. HUN eXtreme OC Team - 1' 39,078 sec / worth 12 points
2. OCTeamHungary - 1' 42,375 sec / worth 10 points

3DMark2006 Total
1. OCTeamHungary - 22 442 (http://prohardver.hu/dl/new/2009-02/47901_gooc_07b.jpg) / worth 6 points
2. HUN eXtreme OC Team - 21 746 (http://prohardver.hu/dl/new/2009-02/47901_gooc_08b.jpg) / worth 5 points

Final Score: OCTeamHungary 16 point | Hun eXtreme OC Team 17 points.

so we acknowledge our lose, weird scoring method that 3D result cannot do anything with final score. after one or two week after the sweden (http://www.techsweden.org/artikel/JcPq-gigabyte-gooc-2009/) and french (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showpost.php?p=3687901&postcount=199) qualification (where was the same rules) we just recognised that some teams got 20+ scores in final, and we was looking like shocked how is this possible? in the a doc file (attached) with the country rules you can see the correct method, but sadly we didnt recognised the failure at the event, nobody does, but in a competition who needs to know it 100%? the jury. until now nobody let us know about changing anything in the rules. so everybody can see it was a mistake by calculated the 3dmark06 score at our event. we got 6 SM3 points for the total 06 score instead of 10 and we just dont got any points after SM3 win category wich worth 6 points!
so we calculated again our scores in the correct way and got this:

SuperPi 8MB
1. HUN eXtreme OC Team - 1' 39,078 sec / worth 12 points
2. OCTeamHungary - 1' 42,375 sec / worth 10 points

3DMark2006 HDR/SM 3.0
1. OCTeamHungary - 9244 / worth 6 points
2. HUN eXtreme OC Team - 8912 / worth 5 points

3DMark2006 Total
1. OCTeamHungary - 22 442 (http://prohardver.hu/dl/new/2009-02/47901_gooc_07b.jpg) / worth 10 points
2. HUN eXtreme OC Team - 21 746 (http://prohardver.hu/dl/new/2009-02/47901_gooc_08b.jpg) / worth 8 points

New Final Score: OCTeamHungary 26 point | Hun eXtreme OC Team 25 points!

i dont ask anybody to do self judgement over anything what happend because it was a regional organisation issue. but this is just not the way to do about solving problems with full respect to the other people. i shared this information with that reason to show the international community the truth what became to a lie in the end, wich is really sad that could be possible. thanks for reading.

regards
Achill3uS

you all have eye candy scenarios where you can bench at, and at the end, cute girls all around the place, LN2, etc, etc

we have to do our benchs alone, at home, no LN2, no girls, no beers.....(well i had a pair :p )

also...

Europe-final, run GTX 260 SLI ( 2 cards ), and can do any mod you want including GTX 260 and motherboard, also LN2 for any components

Super pi 8M ( 100mins), 3dmark 06 ( 100mins),
you can run it seperate or just run one time, ( im sure seperate its better for HDR/SM3.0(thats why i say a tip)...lol) and run a full 3dmark06 for getting overall scores.

between 2 contest, breaking time is 60mins(1hr), you have time to insulate VGA and MB once time for 3Ds. ( you already insulate M/B and pcie area before running super pi , the breaking time just make sure you can take a rest, or remove pot, and check mb insulation for next 3Dmark 06 contest.

also...here is how the final score is calculated

we had a conversation today with gigabyte hungary, and they let us know their decision, that only the other - officially "winner" - team will take part of the GOOC 2009, no changes.
we awfully sorry that we haven't got any response from higher level of Gigabyte for our post, statement. we would really apperciate getting any letter from them. no matter if we didn't go to Prague saying sorry would be more than enough.

If i dont mistake, 260(65nm) and 280 mods are same. Cant say 100%, cuz dont have this card now.
But vmod for 280 http://www.pcgameshardware.com/aid,648668/Volt-mod-for-Geforce-GTX-280/News/

Or we can do soft mod via Riva Tuner :ocx2008s37:

I was under the impression we were only allowed to use the software they supplied.....although I did see a screenshot of somebody using OCXspiTweaker at one of the comp's.

Do they split everybody up into to teams? If so who handles that?

3oh6
04-14-2009, 06:38 PM
i was under the impression that we could only use the software they provide, but cooling and hardware mods were fair game. i am also really foggy about the details on the whole competition and being as busy as i am right up until the morning i fly out, i will virtually be flying blind.

but, if they are the 65nm cards - and all signs are pointing to they are - then riva tuner will be able to adjust core voltage at least. memory will still need to be volt modded, but i also heard we won't have access to backup hardware...which means we will actually have to properly insulate and will have to worry about killing things.

AFAIK, the competition on saturday is what counts and we are just running single GTX 260 but are allowed to cool however we want and volt mod if we want. sunday is just the "freestyle" but i don't know if there is a competition there. i am bringing a couple setups for sunday to play with and get some HWBot golds.

I have seen conflicting stories as some have said hat you get one backup of HW to use but have read ther places you get one shot an that is it.

yeah i will bringing everything including the kitchensink as far as pots go. I will have already had the insulation precut for the board itself as i am going to try and get some testing time with it before I fly out there. If we are allowed to bring our own hardware for the freestyle event then well......I will definitely have a nice little surprise to play with on Sunday. There are prizes for the freestyle comp IIRC. I just want to take advantage of the free flowing LN2 all day tbh:D

hi guys good luck
i'd love to see jody in Taiwan no offence to anyone else (oh not because i like him but i get to have MACMAC off my back and bring bad luck to someone else hahahahhahah j/k)

hey they did have OCX tweaker on desktop but i have NFI how to use that software :(

Gigabyte will provide software preinstalled on HDD and even dual partitions :D

you have to find out whether you can cool the cards with LN2 cause some comps had air and some had colder

in sydney we only had air for GPUs and we all used that software vmod system from german guys which worked pretty good even though the cards wouldnt take more than 1.24vcore from memory

in terms of backup hardware >>> they will have some backups but put it this way not all contestants will get a chance to do a swapover and most wont need it anyway....to be honest ppl are too eager to change before they give it a decent shot..... i7 is finnicky and sometimes its the settings rather than any parts going bad thats holding you back

hey guys,

i think i have problem with my mathematical skills. please let me know how is possible to get worse final place with faster PI score? Dedal&Neoforce got 11th place for 01:33.328 seconds and Obr&Wlk got 8th place for 01:33.531 seconds. i also see other "bugs" on score table :D

Wow, was this a crazy competition.

Our strategy for the 4th place was very simple....

We starting training really hard in the day before the competition...

http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/5278/gooc001.jpg (http://img26.imageshack.us/my.php?image=gooc001.jpg)

http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/2027/gooc002.jpg (http://img26.imageshack.us/my.php?image=gooc002.jpg)

Then, when the competition started in the morning, we just applied what we have rehearsed a day before...

http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/9762/gooc003.jpg (http://img90.imageshack.us/my.php?image=gooc003.jpg)

http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/5257/gooc004.jpg (http://img90.imageshack.us/my.php?image=gooc004.jpg)

http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/3623/gooc005.jpg (http://img90.imageshack.us/my.php?image=gooc005.jpg)

Then, we started testing, but sometimes it was really difficult deciding which of the 3 "Start Benchmark" buttons to push...:D

http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/6086/gooc006.jpg (http://img90.imageshack.us/my.php?image=gooc006.jpg)

Then, seeing that we have many points as Hipro and GPRHellas, we sweet-talked them into giving us the 4th place :D

http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/5589/gooc007.jpg (http://img90.imageshack.us/my.php?image=gooc007.jpg)

Now, leaving the joke aside, it was a fantastic event and I was honoured to be there. First of all, my congratulations to Belgium, Poland and Sweeden, you guys really played cool and made the best out of this competition. My congratulations to Hipro and GPRHellas, you guys really did some serious damage with a c**ppy CPU, and you guys really rock!!! Also, cogratulations to all the teams present, just being there means something, and you guys made this event feel like a really great meeting of first class overclockers.

Congratulations for Gigabyte for making this possible, and for their crew for the organization. Our best regards for Intel, Nvidia, Kingston and Enermax for contributing to such a great event. We had a really great time and we thank you all for that!

Last but not least, our thank for everybody on the forum and chat room for the support, your coments on this thread make me wanna go back and push more :D

Our story in this event was very simple. We had a nice CPU (PI8M @ 5050MHz), and me managed to squeeze a decent 8M score. Unfortunately, we had some troubles with the mainboard, and we didn;t manage to tweak that some more. We decided to change it just before starting 3DM 2k6 (we were the guys "just changing the motherboard", and that was a very good decision, but also a late one. We did a back-up score for HDR and 2K6 just after we finished re-assembling the set-up, but it was a little bit to late to get a decent score. Shortly put, we had nice CPU, nice VGA's (-120oC / 900MHz GPU), a fair result in PI8M, and we really sucked in 3DMark 2006

I know most of the guys had different types of problems, and I want to tell you guys that luck allways plays a major part in this type of competitions. There are winners here, and they deserve it, but there are no loosers in such an event

I must salute Greece, Russia and Spain, I know they had really crappy CPU's and would have done a very good job with better luck. Maybe this is the same for the others, but them I saw closely. You guy rock anyway. Also, my respect for the Serbian team, you guys put up a very nice SuperPI 8M fight, and it was a pleasure competing with you for the 3rd place most of the time (Poland came in in the end).

What else can I say, beer is good in Prague, we felt extraordinsry, I am waiting for Trouff's final edit, and will put up the photos that we have in 1-2 days. Now I must go prepare for Easter (Orthodox country here).

WE MUST DO THIS AGAIN!!!!!!

LE: And DON'T FORGET THE MOTTO GUYS - WE CAME HERE FOR THE BEER!!

hey monstu we were chatting in IRC channel about all you guys and were concerned that you guys and Sergio didnt have any results

they you posted a score but it was far off only to have a thumper later....which was good to see...you and poland had similar scores in that sense where you didnt have anything at first, then a slower score and then a nice one....thats very exciting and we were all excited for all the contestants that participated. I wished i could be there but what can you do i guess

Sergio i know how it is man. last year we had really poor luck like you did this event :(. it definitely doesnt reflect on you in any way....as we didnt think it did on us last year

And, yes, Sergio and Dani had bad luck, very bad luck, but it happens.

At least we did some good pictures...

@ Massman, Dacosa took his flight as planned. It was Predator who had problems with his eye, and booked a another flight. We took him with us in the taxi to the airfield and there he took his flight. I hope everythins is alright with him now :(

Isi

That is not exactly what happened, Dani had to wait till 20:00 to next flight cause when he arrived 1 hour before take off and they didn´t let him check in, he had to go back to the hotel and thanks to Sue from Gigabyte he had a second flight. Sergio took the plane on time, but he had to go to hospital saturday morning due a pain in his eye very strong, but he is fine now. Both are safe at home, with a great headache i supose but fine!

Ok here it goes my own opinion about the event :)

First of all, i'm alright myself, i double checked once i landed Spain, and i had a corneal ulcer, the doctor told me it will retrieve itself and i don't have to worry about, the first day i was in real pain on my eye though :S

Monstru, i don't know what caused it, i don't think it was the air-conditioned, but who knows, maybe that was the cause, i think there were too many blondes hanging around to process for my poor retine xD

btw, i have this for you bro:
