TBH, 4X4 FX74*2 is much more better than Phenom Black ED 9600 :(

Does that board take registered or can you use regular ddr2?

Regular ram for FX and Opteron 2000 series, and registered ram for Opteron 23** series.

So in reality is has little to due with the mb and all to do with what is programmed into the IMC of the CPU.

MB compatibility cold be changed with the right bios update

Regular ram for FX and Opteron 2000 series, and registered ram for Opteron 23** series.
