Nice one!

Did you try your X6800 on this Commando of yours? If you can bench Spi with the same clocks and 2:3 ratio, you'll easily improve your times.

So all ratios are working fine on commando?

Unlike on p5b dlx :ocx30:

Isnt the average coldbug around -125C on C2D? That cascades almost as good as ln2 for benching c2d!

Unlike on p5b dlx :ocx30:

Nop; AFAIK, 4:5 ratio is bugged on P965 chipset, but 2:3 works fine, making it far better than i975 for benching Spi. The main concern with P965 is the support of X68 and QX67 processors... I really don't know why, it might be a matter of multipliers managment. May be a hard mod can solve this issue.

Did you by any chance measure how much power does your cascade consume at idle/load? :)

Well, some members mysteriously got 4:5 working with mem > 500 but very few, maybe 2-3 boards only.

How do you mean support for X68, QX67? At least p965 is the best for high fsb including quads :)

bikester1986

man these x6800 are making it harder and harder for us gts users only using a 6600 :)

Sam

The main concern with P965 is the support of X68 and QX67 processors...Tried both with my P5BDeluxe ... no problems with clocking with multis below stock, but real problems when going above x12/x13 ;)
But hey, you don't really need to go that high with 965's FSB clock capabilities...

Commando looks like a strong board, but (IMO) it is overpriced a bit ... you can get a C2 Deluxe, smack some Vmods and here you go :D
As for the mem.dividers, 1:1 and 2:3 are the ones to go for (1:2 for maxDDR2 freq also good) :D

below post : before, the pics were posted 3 posts above, lol :D

before
03-01-2007, 12:53 PM
@kiwi: Not really a matter of FSB, only of multipliers management and then the max clock is quite poor in comparison to i975 equivalency. I mean, it's not rare to get similar max clocks for benching and screening with a X68 on P965 while it would have been significantly imporved on i975.

Hey Joe, are pics of today's setup?

For air, hard to say which is the best

yea I second that;

BTW 965 is the best for Spi benching for those with RAM that can run with 2:3 no matter the cooling. :)

You might be able to go sub-10mins at these clocks with the Commando.

Anyway, be careful while using this board, Vdimm may kill your RAM: I've lost 1 Wintec module and my STT kit has lost performance after benching with the Commando. Look carefully to the Vdimm after each reboot as it can fluctuate in a very bad way... (setting 2.65V may become 2.73V after the following boot)

Yes, with 4 cores the max fsb is around 460mhz.
I can get fsb 500mhz too but then i have only 2 cores left.

I had the same issue on the EVGA 680i with QX6700. Above ~400MHz FSB two cores dissapeared. :( It did help a bit to raise the voltages but then the temps got real high.

I hope I can test more this evening. I will let you know max FSB for me on DFI Infinity 965.

P.S. I envy your cascade. ;)

EDIT: Do you 'loose' the cores in BIOS and windows or only in Windows? If they are missed in BIOS more vcore usually helps. If they only are missed in Windows I guess you are close to the max.
